“When you look at the market for centre-forwards now and before, and what was open and available for this football club, we’ve never had what I would consider a serial goalscorer who has repeatedly shown in his career that he can score goals, said Woking manager Darren Sarll. “Padraig is exactly that.”

“He has – as a character – a consistency in high-pressure games. He has a professionalism that I have always insisted on improving at the Club, and he is so fit and hungry to spend two years with us. .”

“All of these references rolled into one will only mean good things for the players around him, himself and the Club. It’s one I’ve held onto for a long time, dating back to before I was at Woking. I am very excited to work with a player of this caliber.

Amond, 34, came through Shamrock Rovers academy, scoring 75 times for the Hoops before moving to Sligo Rovers in 2010, where he went on to score 23 goals in 36 appearances. His form earned him a transfer to Pacos de Ferreira in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Padraig’s first move to England was Accrington Stanley in 2011. Morecambe came in 2013 and in four seasons he played 160 times in League Two.
Grimsby Town signed the striker ahead of the 2015/16 National League season, as Amond scored 30 goals in 40 league appearances for the Mariners, guiding them to promotion back to League Two.

After a spell at Hartlepool United, Padraig signed for League Two from Newport County in 2017. He scored 41 goals in 161 League Two appearances, as well as goals against Leicester City, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the Emirates FA Cup , before spending the final season on loan in Devon.
